From the initial in home visit, the design, fabrication and installation. One person, one set of hands, one set of eyes.
Diligent Custom takes an old-school approach — with the fabrication, as well as the customer interaction. Every project begins with a personal consultation in your home, making sure that we begin and end with every detail covered
Here, builds are done in furniture grade, “gang style” in a furniture-style manner, where large custom-crafted pieces come together to create your kitchen, media wall, vanity, hutch, or workspace — not a bunch of modular boxes all screwed together. Cabinetry built with character, purpose, and longevity. Not just a box with a door on it!
Prior to creating even the first rough draft of your project, clients are encouraged to gather their inspiration & visions— magazines with those folded page corners, saved photos, design ideas on a phone or tablet. This allows me to get inside your head and get an idea of what speaks to you. Sometimes it’s one small detail in a photo. Sometimes it’s a combination of ideas from several different spaces, which we (you and I)use to do our best to incorporate into your personized space.
From clever storage solutions and baking stations to built-in workspaces and furniture-style details, every project is uniquely tailored to the homeowner and the space itself.
One set of hands, one project at a time.
I create spaces designed specifically for the people who live in them, and the way you want it to look, feel and work. I listen, and make every effort to create “your” vision.
A craftsman of over 30 years. Creating furniture grade/gang built cabinetry. This is the old school artisan approach to craftsmanship.
At the same time, utilizing more modern joinery techniques. No hot glue. No face frames simply nailed to their boxes. Hidden mechanical fasteners join these parts together. All designed to stand the test of time.
I also take a more thoughtful approach to materials and finishes, working with suppliers who value sustainable forestry practices and offering high-quality low/no VOC finishes on every project.
Commissioned furniture pieces and one-of-a-kind builds are always welcome in my shop.
With the image above, a client brought me a picture of something similar.
See something in a magazine, or while on vacation, whatever. Bring me a pic, we’ll take that inspiration, perhaps tweak it a bit — and create something personal, for “you”.
A little more clarification of the term “Gang Built.”
In the kitchen shown above, the base cabinetry consists of only three large pieces — two measuring 6 1/2 feet long, and another 7 1/2 feet. Not only is this a more stable manner of construction, it allows for the inclusion of many more custom aspects. Such as specialized roll outs, etc.
By not losing all that space in between all those modular boxes screwed together, we’re able to utilize every inch.
Wall cabinets done in the same manner. (top left – 50 in one direction, 38 in the other)
It’s Gang Built – It’s Custom!

Every design is built for you and your space, your needs, and the way you live day to day. Nothing is standardized or one-size-fits-all.

Beautiful cabinetry that you could park a truck on!

From the initial visit, to design, fabrication and install.

You and I work together, curating the perfect space for "You".
I give you a price based on the overall scope/size of the project, based on details gathered in our initial conversations. I’ve been doing this for a bit, therefore, I can comfortably come to this amount quickly. Unless we make significant changes to the project, that price is solid, no surprises. There is no nit picking on small changes, no annoying change orders/price adjustments.
Once this price is accepted; a 10% deposit is required to lock into the schedule. Being a one-man op, schedule is crucial.
Then, you and I start dialing in all the details. Initial rough drawing is created, we discuss, make whatever needed revisions, until we get it right.
By the time we get to that “get it right” place, we’ve established a comfortable working relationship. At this point, an additional 35% is required to start fabrication, withthe 55% balance due at installation.
When doing your build, you are invited to visit the shop to see your project come to life. At times, it may be requested, just to make sure that we are on the same page with something unique. Visiting the shop as your build progresses allows you to see the work and quality of it.
